Salons are incubators where ideas are conceived, gestated, and hatched. Salons are the frontiers of social and cultural change: they cultivate creativity, revive the art of conversation, and fuel energy to change the world. Salons are gatherings where people talk “big talk,” talk meant to be listened to and perhaps passionately acted upon.
An important reason for a salon is to practice creativity in a setting where one needn’t fear judgment of his/her/their efforts. Conversation is the way we convey information, inspire each other, and achieve understanding. Conversation is the way we challenge, amuse, and amaze each other.
About the work in progress: working title "You Cannot Come Into Town With That".
Combining the languages of computer programming and body movement, the team will produce an interactive dance theater performance, transformable with the audience feedback received in real time.
Nadya: "In this work, I want to explore the identity crisis I've experienced several times in the last decade: after moving to the US, after becoming a mom for the first and then second time. In particular, how I had to shun some of my personality traits in order to adjust to new circumstances better. We will use "Hansel and Gretel" fairy tale as a base for the work, where abandoned children will become parts of personality lost on purpose, trying to get back to the main character."
The event will take place in the downstairs studio at Core Dance, 133 Sycamore Street, Decatur, GA, 30030. Entrance from the Decatur Square. Parking available on Electric Street, Decatur Court, Church Street parking.
The venue is ADA accessible.
