Nadya Zeitlin, Art on the Atlanta BeltLine Artist-in-Residence, is inviting you to join her for a work in progress showing and movement workshop on May 18, 11AM - 12:30PM @ Old Fourth Ward Tower.
While in residency, she is exploring the process and techniques of adjusting to new homes through the lens of a site specific dance performance.
What to expect?
You will watch a short work-in-progress, followed by a workshop involving discussion, a bit of journaling, prompts for creating movement, and co-creating a collective dance phrase together. Afterwards, each participant will have time to create a short performance at the spot of their choice, guided by Nadya and utilizing techniques she will share. This workshop is free to attend.
Do I have to participate in the creative process and showing?
It’s up to you! You can simply come and watch the process though we always welcome feedback from viewers.
Do I have to be a professional dancer to participate?
Not at all! The most important thing is your curiosity and interest in site specific dance performances, as well as the desire to challenge yourself to new creative activity.
This workshop is free to attend and open to all levels of dance experience.
Please keep in mind that we will have a videographer documenting the process, which will become part of a movie culminating the residency.
To ensure that everyone receives enough attention, participation is limited to 15 people. Please register to secure your spot and release your registration if your plans change. Registration is NOT required if you only plan to watch the workshop. We will ask all participants to sign a Liability Waiver before participating in the workshop.
If you have any additional questions, please reach out to bautanzt@gmail.com.
Free parking may be available around the Old Fourth Ward Park, paid parking @ Ponce City Market. We encourage carpooling!
