Site-Specific Dance Hub is...

... a unique program combines research attributes of a residency and educational qualities of a workshop, and provides a stipend for selected participating artists.

In 2023, the Hub’s theme was the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop. 

This program is brought to life with the support of the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

In the course of 2 weekends, 8 dancers created dance material in collaboration with each other and 2 choreographers:

= Nadya Zeitlin oversaw the research and site-specific element of the program; 
= a guest choreographer and musician Xavier Lewis / Xay Zoleil created a Hip-Hop based dance work and a soundtrack. 

Each artist received a stipend for their participation in the project. 

After each day of research and study, participants applied created dance material to various public environments:

urban park, nature preserve, playground. 

FyreNation Crew held a WeOnFyre cypher at the final day of the Hub in Grant Park on July 23rd.

FREE CLASSES WERE PROVIDED FOR THE COMMUNITY: 

On Sundays, July 16 and 23, we offer FREE classes for the community. 

11AM - 12 PM | Hip Hop with Xavier Lewis 

2 PM - 3 PM | Inspiration Station with Nadya Zeitlin
